Description
Job Opportunity: Hospice Registered Nurse
Location: Spokane Valley, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 7 days on / 7 days off
- Shift Hours: 10-hour shifts, Friday through Thursday, 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM
- Patient Ratio: 1:1 (may visit up to 6 patients per day)
- Work Setting: Primarily office-based with patient visits; home health/hospice environment
- Travel Radius: Occasional travel up to 50+ miles; own transportation required
- Local Candidates: Accepted within a 50-75 mile radius
- Pending License: Accepted
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 1 year of hospice nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Home health experience
- Experience with Home Care Home Base (HCHB) documentation system
Job Responsibilities
- Admit patients, triage, phone calls, RN visits
- No specific caseload; flexible patient assignments
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Washington
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Home Care Home Base (HCHB) experience required
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine or declination
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates
- Fit mask testing required annually for travel candidates
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification required (nursing degree)
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in hospice or comparable setting
- WA State Patrol background search required within 90 days of start and updated every 2 years for home health/hospice
- Multi-state licensed nurses must complete Washington demographic attestation if working with out-of-state compact license
Additional Information
- Facility provides laptop with EPIC and HCHB charting systems
- Free parking and mileage reimbursement per IRS standard
- Attire: Any basic color scrubs
- Float policy acknowledgment may be required (no floating expected for this role)
