Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Everett, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36


Unit & Facility Overview

  • Level III high-risk perinatal care unit with:
    • 19 labor and delivery beds
    • 10 antepartum beds
    • 30 postpartum beds
    • 3 operating rooms (ORs)
    • 2 post-anesthesia care units (PACU)
    • 7-bay triage staffed by 3 skilled RNs per shift
  • Comprehensive maternity services including Level II NICU
  • Staffing goals:
    • 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in labor
    • 1:3 couplets in postpartum with CNA support
    • 1:2-3 nurse-to-patient ratio in antepartum
  • Support staff includes surgical techs, CNAs, CRNAs, health unit coordinators, and delivering providers 24/7
  • Facility uses EPIC for charting
  • Parking is facility-paid
  • Scrub color: Any except reddish orange
  • Level II Trauma Center

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Washington
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • AWHONN certification

Candidate Requirements

  • First-time travel nurses accepted
  • Locals not accepted for this travel position
  • Must submit all requested Return to Office (RTO) restrictions at time of application
  • Guaranteed hours: Clinician may be called off for one 12-hour shift per two-week period

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
  • Drug screen (9 panel) within 12 months of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
  • Respirator medical clearance required annually for travel candidates
  • Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (not required for sterile processing techs)
  • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years required

Training & Competency

  • Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
  • Annual skills checklist for applicable units
  • Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring training required for all L&D RNs, met by either:
    • Valid EFM certification (AWHONN or NCC) OR
    • Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam in Relias
  • Completion of required WorkRamp modules including:
    • Annual regulatory requirements
    • Specialty-specific modules for L&D and related roles
    • Facility-specific modules as assigned
  • Epic training modules completion required (specific to Providence system)

Additional Notes

  • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities
  • Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
  • Background and education verifications required, including NURSYS verification for RN license
  • No prior travel experience required for this position

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity, well-supported labor and delivery unit with comprehensive maternity services and a Level II NICU. Candidates should be prepared for weekend shifts and floating to postpartum care.
