Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Everett, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Unit & Facility Overview
- Level III high-risk perinatal care unit with:
- 19 labor and delivery beds
- 10 antepartum beds
- 30 postpartum beds
- 3 operating rooms (ORs)
- 2 post-anesthesia care units (PACU)
- 7-bay triage staffed by 3 skilled RNs per shift
- Facility includes a Level II NICU and comprehensive maternity services
- Staffing goals:
- 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in labor
- 1:3 couplets in postpartum with CNA support
- 1:2-3 nurse-to-patient ratio in antepartum
- Support staff includes surgical techs, CRNAs, CNAs, health unit coordinators, and delivering providers 24/7
- Charting system: EPIC
- Parking: Facility paid
- Scrub color: Any except reddish orange
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring certification
Job Details
- Start date: ASAP
- Call: Not required
- Guaranteed hours: Clinician may be called off for one 12-hour shift per two-week period
- Locals: Not accepted
- Hard stop: Must have SVE (Sterile Vaginal Exam) skills
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- Drug screen: 9-panel within 12 months, instants acceptable with attestation
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Respirator safety clearance required annually for travel nurses
- WA State Patrol Search and other state-specific background checks as required
Training & Competency Requirements
- Medication and pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific modules via Workramp LMS (including trauma-informed care and fetal monitoring training)
- Epic training modules required prior to or shortly after start
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Float policy acknowledgment required
Additional Notes
- Candidates ideally have experience in facilities with 200+ deliveries annually; those with 100-200 deliveries experience may be considered
- Must submit all required accounting and identification documents (I9, government-issued photo ID, social security card, etc.)
- Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background)
- Must comply with float policy and may be required to float to other nearby facilities
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity labor and delivery unit with comprehensive maternity and neonatal services in a Level II trauma center setting. The role requires strong clinical skills, relevant certifications, and flexibility to float and work weekends.
