Description

Job Opportunity: MedSurgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Unit: MedSurgical Float Pool (includes Telemetry)
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Total Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Role: Provide high-quality nursing care in a MedSurgical setting with flexibility to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
  • Patient Ratio: Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:4-5
  • Schedule: Availability required for weekdays, some weekends, and holidays

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health records system

Required Compliance and Background Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed within 1 year of start)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • TB questionnaire in lieu of annual TB test renewal
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, and Rubella
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31) with mask requirement if declined
  • Fingerprinting must be done using Ohio BCI & FBI code 3701.881
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start

Competency and Certification Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exams required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Annual acknowledgment of dress code and hand hygiene policies
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually
  • Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership (charge RN acceptable as second reference)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
