Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Flagstaff, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide care in Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units
- Responsibilities include OB Triage, labor support, circulating during C-sections, postpartum couplet care, and transitioning newborns
- Shift schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (variable day or night shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
- Weekend work as needed
- On-call required: approximately 1-2 twelve-hour shifts per 8-week schedule (may be day or night with appropriate turnaround time)
- Floating only within the department
- Locals accepted
- Unit manager approval required for return-to-office (RTO) restrictions and blocked scheduling considerations
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week; facility may call off up to 6 shifts during the 13-week assignment

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Arizona
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Current Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Fit mask (N95) required within 1 year and updated annually; onsite fit testing available if needed
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred within last 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year and updated annually; chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required for past positives
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or proof of 2 MMR vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, 3-dose vaccine series, or declination required
- Varicella: positive titer or proof of 2 vaccines required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination form required for 2025-2026 season; decliners must wear a mask when not eating or drinking
- COVID vaccination series or declination with facility-specific form required
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine test within 30 days of start and updated annually
Documentation and Background Checks
- Employment application covering last 3 years with documented gaps over 30 days (resume alone insufficient)
- Verification of 3 years of work history
- Two professional references required (one from most recent employer within 1 year, second within 2 years)
- Background checks within 30 days of start including:
- 7-year criminal background check
- SSN trace
- National sex offender search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Arizona fingerprint card may be required depending on specialty (not typically for RN Labor & Delivery)
- Photo for badge required (clear headshot with preferred clear background)
- Completion and signing of facility-specific confidentiality, substance abuse screening, professional attire, and security question forms prior to start
Additional Notes
- Floating limited to Labor & Delivery department only
- Unit manager approval required for scheduling flexibility and return-to-office considerations
- Facility allows RN scrub color choice
- On-call shifts require appropriate turnaround time between shifts
