Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - OR Circulator / Pre-Op / PACU
Location
- Lamar, Colorado
Employment Type
- Contract
- Duration: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day shift: 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Occasional late days to complete surgical case loads
- Rotational surgical call averaging 1 to 2 days per week
- Call coverage every other weekend or every third weekend, depending on staffing
- 40 hours per week
Job Description
- Provide direct patient care across three surgical service areas: Pre-op, OR (Circulator), and PACU
- Function as a primary caregiver in all three areas; must have experience in all
- Surgical cases include General, OB/GYN, Ophthalmology (cataract surgery), and Orthopedics (1-2 times per month)
- Responsibilities include patient assessments, documentation, emotional support, coordinating transfers, patient recovery, circulating cases, assisting with instrument/equipment processing, and patient education
- Adhere to infection control principles and departmental policies
- Follow national standards (IAHCSMM, AORN, ASGE, ASPAN)
Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to perform effectively in highly stressful situations
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with diverse individuals
- Long periods of standing and walking, heavy lifting
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, and unpleasant sights/smells
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Pre-Op
- Experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- ACLS certification
Reporting
- Reports to the Surgical Services Manager or designee
