Description

Job Opportunity: IMC Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Intermediate Care (IMC)
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required; scheduling based on unit needs
  • Float Requirement: Must float to Telemetry and/or Medical-Surgical units as needed
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5 or 1:6 depending on unit
  • Patient Care: Bedside monitoring for up to 8 patients, including ultrasound IV and cardiac monitoring
  • Scrubs: Not provided; Caribbean blue scrubs recommended

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Care experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
  • Experience in an acute care setting

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • I-9 and E-Verify attestation completed prior to start
  • Valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function
  • Criminal background check within 90 days, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during assignment
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of TB)
    • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
    • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, and Hepatitis B
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
  • Skills checklist and competency exams updated annually

Orientation & Training

  • Weekly orientation with ASAP start date
  • Completion of facility-specific modules (SITELS) required before start date
  • Annual safety manual acknowledgement required

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be able to pass the EKG competency exam annually and remediate if necessary
  • Unit requires ability to use lift equipment and perform bedside monitoring
  • Background checks and drug screens must be updated if there is a break in service of 6 months or more
  • Facility has strict guidelines for medical/religious exemptions for flu vaccine
