Description
Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Progressive Care Neuro Trauma Unit
- 23 beds
- Staffing:
- Day Shift: 6-7 RNs, 2 Aides
- Night Shift: 6-7 RNs, 2 Aides
- Patient Ratio: 4:1
- Equipment: Bedside monitors, End tidal O2 monitoring, high flow oxygen, chronic ventilators, subdural drains
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Meditech
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Hampshire
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
- Experience in step-down units
- Telemetry experience
Skills and Experience
- Must have:
- Telemetry experience
- Step-down unit experience
- Preferred:
- Neuro experience
- Trauma experience
Typical Procedures on Unit
- Chest tube management
- EEG monitoring
Work Environment and Schedule
- Floating to all inpatient units including ICU and Emergency Department (ED)
- Dress code: Professional attire, no specific scrub color required
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend off; no on-call required
- Weekly hours: Approximately 36 hours
