Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Overview
- High volume, high census facility with a diverse patient population.
- Focus on high-risk obstetric patients.
- Care involves postpartum treatment following delivery.
- Standard patient load: 4 couplets.
- Unit requires experience with postpartum hemorrhage, magnesium therapy, Pitocin administration, Foley catheter care, and managing substance withdrawal.
- EPIC electronic health record experience is mandatory.
- JADA experience preferred.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Washington.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 2 years of Maternal-Newborn nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience working with high-risk obstetric patients.
- One completed travel nursing assignment.
- Experience with magnesium therapy, Pitocin administration, Foley catheter care, postpartum hemorrhage management, and substance withdrawal management.
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- EPIC system proficiency (mandatory)
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit-specific needs (e.g., EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring).
Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse license valid in Washington.
- Compact license holders are accepted if active.
- Must complete Washington Multi-State Licensed Nurses Demographic Attestation if working with an out-of-state compact license.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 12 months of start.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Respirator medical clearance required annually for travel candidates.
- References: Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years.
Training & Competency
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules including:
- Annual regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for Mother-Baby/Couplet Care/Postpartum
- Facility-specific and regional core modules as assigned
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- EFM training required for Labor & Delivery RNs (can be met by certification or assessment exam).
- Epic training modules must be completed as required.
Additional Notes
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be floated to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
- Passport-style badge photo required for badge issuance.
- Candidates must be able to work weekends and float as needed.
- This position does not accept first-time travel nurses.
