Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM, Friday through Sunday)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Work in Surgical Services with focus on cardiovascular operating room technology.
- Call requirement: 90-120 hours of call within a 6-week schedule.
- First-time travelers accepted if they have Level 1 Trauma Center experience.
- Surgical cases include complex vascular and thoracic procedures such as:
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Atherectomy
- Atrial Septal Defect Repair
- Cardiomyoplasty
- Carotid Endarterectomy
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
- Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
- Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft
- Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery
- Mitral Valve Replacement
- Pericardial Window
- Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR)
- Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)
- Heart & Lung Transplant
- Valve Replacement
- Aortic Dissection
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist, including experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
Important Notes
- Due to state regulations effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs (except Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RNs) will not be allowed to start new contracts after 9/9/2024.
- Perioperative/OR RNs and Allied travelers are exempt from this restriction and may work past the deadline.
- On-site fit testing is available only as a last resort; documentation of fit testing with approved respirators is required.
- Extensive mandatory orientation and training modules must be completed prior to start.
- Background checks, education verification, and multiple health screenings/vaccinations are required.
- Drug screening and immunization compliance (including TB, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccination) are mandatory.
- References: Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment with supervisory titles required.
- Employment application must cover the last 7 years with explanations for any gaps over 30 days.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam completed within 12 months of start date.
- Fit mask test within 12 months with approved respirators.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months.
- Immunizations and titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (strongly recommended)
- Annual TB questionnaire and negative TB test within 1 year.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific compliance forms and orientation packets prior to start.
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required.
- Color blindness testing (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score.
- Unit competency exam required.
- HIPAA and confidentiality agreements must be acknowledged.
This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for experienced CVOR Techs with trauma and advanced surgical experience seeking travel assignments.
