Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Monticello, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (either 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Every third weekend required
- Unit includes Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Triage, Antepartum, Normal Newborn, and Special Care Nursery (including infant IV starts and high flow oxygen)
- Patient population: Pregnancies 36 weeks gestation or higher
- 6-bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- AWHONN Intermediate
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
- Nursery experience
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Criminal background check within 1 year, including:
- 7-year search, SS trace, counties, sex offender, nationwide
- International checks if candidate has lived/worked outside the U.S.
- MN DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required before start (no starts with fingerprints pending unless approved “more time needed” letter)
- Primary source verification of state license
- Education verification or diploma acceptable
- Two professional references from recent employers within 2 years
- Skills checklist and competency exams required annually (medication/pharmacology competency required for RNs)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit testing for N95 masks required
- Tdap vaccination required (no religious declinations accepted)
- Tuberculosis screening per MN state guidelines (2-step PPD or equivalent within 90 days)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity proof required (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Varicella immunity proof required (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B vaccination, positive titer, or declination accepted
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined) during flu season (10/1–3/31)
- Drug testing within 1 year (9-panel acceptable)
Additional Information
- Photo for badge required (grey background, no selfies, JPG format)
- Dress code must be reviewed prior to start
- Education modules completed during orientation (approx. 16 hours)
- Confidentiality agreement must be signed before starting
- Badge must be returned on last day of assignment
