Behavioral Health Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Minnesota
Location
- City: New Ulm, Minnesota
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Behavioral Health)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- Patient Ratio: 1:3 during the day, 1:1 at night on a 10-bed secured adult inpatient mental health unit
- Contract Length: Approximately 9 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: May float within scope to other units, including watching mental health patients in the Emergency Department
- Block Scheduling: Possible depending on staffing
- Locals: Not accepted; must live more than 100 miles from the facility to apply
- On-call: Not required
- Guaranteed Hours: Client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty; on-call hours do not count toward guaranteed hours
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota
- Minimum 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 1 year, including Minnesota statewide search and other standard checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year
- Minnesota DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start; candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending unless a “more time needed” letter is provided
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Adult Tdap vaccine (no declinations accepted without approved exemption)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (TB results must be on file no later than 3 days after start)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no exemptions accepted)
- Hepatitis B: positive IGG titer, proof of series, or signed declination required
- Varicella: positive IGG titer or 2 vaccines required (no exemptions accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
- Respiratory safety clearance (OSHA clearance) required prior to start for fit testing
- Drug testing: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (not required for client clearance but must be set up)
- Photo for badge: passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of signing

Additional Notes

- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days

- Candidates must complete assigned preorientation online modules within 72 hours of receiving login; modules take approximately 9 hours for Behavioral Health RNs
