Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Cath Lab Tech with specialized experience in structural heart procedures. This is a travel/contract position requiring availability for a 4x10 hour day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Weekend and callback call are required approximately 9-11 days in a 6-week rotation, including 1-2 weekends.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab Radiology Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Structural Heart scrub experience is mandatory.
  • Experience with TAVR, MitraClip, CTO, and Watchman procedures.
  • Cath Lab Technologist experience.
  • Certifications: ACLS and BLS required; must have at least one of the following certifications: RCIS or ARRT.
  • Unit skills: Scrub and PA Lines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills: Circulate, IV Start, Conscious Sedation.
  • Additional Cath Lab procedures: Watchman Procedures, Septal Closure, Ablations, Coil Embolization, Filter Placement.
  • EKG rhythm interpretation experience preferred.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Target patient ratio: 3 rooms.
  • Shift: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), Monday through Friday.
  • Call: Callback and weekend call required, approximately 9-11 days per 6-week schedule.
  • Floating: Rarely required; may float to Electrophysiology (EP) or patient holding area within Cath Lab.
  • Scrubs provided.

Orientation & Start Details

  • Orientation start date is subject to change based on class and trainer availability.
  • Travelers may start on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week and must be fully available with no other commitments during orientation.
  • Missing any portion of orientation may delay or cancel the start date.
  • Final start date confirmed the Tuesday prior to the start week.

Unit Systems

  • EPIC electronic health record system.
  • MAC Lab system.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Candidates must provide and complete the following prior to or at start:

  • Background check within 6 months (clinical candidates).
  • Drug screening within 6 months (9-panel acceptable).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire if past positive.
  • Required immunizations and titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella. Declinations not accepted for Rubeola.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, RCIS or ARRT.
  • Photo ID (Driver’s License or Passport).
  • Physical exam (per Aya requirements).
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (9/1 - 10/31).
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules including Medication Safety and Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation (for NC travel candidates).
  • Radiation badge required for Cath Lab techs.
  • Various facility-specific compliance forms including confidentiality agreement, hospital policies acknowledgment, and annual compliance training.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must provide interview availability within 72 hours of submission.
  • No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
  • Candidate photos for badges must meet specific requirements (passport style, white background, business attire).
  • Candidates must complete competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency within 72 hours of start.
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required for new contracts.
  • Candidates must complete required annual trainings and certifications as applicable.

This position is ideal for Cath Lab Techs with strong structural heart procedure experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment with a reputable healthcare system in North Carolina.
