Job Opportunity: GI/Endo Tech

Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a Surgical Services specialty, primarily in an Endoscopy/GI Lab setting.
  • Position involves approximately 30% inpatient and 70% outpatient care, including 10% pediatrics.
  • Assist with high-level disinfection (HLD) of scopes, room turnover, and intra-procedural support for general and advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
  • Support physicians during procedures, including advanced therapeutic techniques.
  • Float required; may be assigned to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
  • On-call required with a 45-minute response time; approximately 132 hours per month on call.
  • Schedule requires flexibility to work any start times; weekends every other weekend.
  • First-time travelers accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Special Procedures Technologist license in Washington.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Special Procedures Technologist, including Endoscopy Technician experience.
  • Certification required: Must hold one of the following:
    • Medical Assistant Certification (MA-C)
    • Surgical Tech Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Work Hours

  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM to 5:30 PM).
  • Approximately 40 hours per week.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness to work.
  • Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instant tests acceptable if paired with attestation.
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; annual updates required.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination.
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
  • Respirator clearance required annually for travel candidates.
  • WA State Patrol background search required within 90 days of start for Washington placements.
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps.
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.

Certifications & Training

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
  • Additional certifications may be required based on clinical track and facility requirements (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) but are not mandatory for this role unless specified.
  • Completion of required WorkRamp modules including:
    • Annual regulatory requirements.
    • Specialty-specific modules for Surgical Tech and Endoscopy roles.
    • Facility-specific and regional training modules as assigned.
  • Epic training modules may be required depending on assignment location.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be flexible to float to other facilities within the region.
  • On-call availability with a 45-minute response time.
  • Must comply with facility float policy acknowledgment.
  • Passport-style badge photo may be required depending on facility.

Notes

  • Candidates separated from other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) for at least 3 months are eligible for travel contracts.
  • No holiday return to office (RTO) days required if 4 days or less; more than 4 days requires manager approval.
  • This position is in a level two trauma, tertiary medical center treating a wide range of GI diseases across all age groups.
