Description

Registered Nurse - ICU

Location

  • Bowling Green, Kentucky

Employment Type

  • Travel assignment

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Unit Information

  • Unit: ICU/CCU
  • Number of beds: 16
  • Patient ratios: Typically 2:1, occasionally 3:1
  • Staffing: Unit secretaries and tech availability varies; tech staffed depending on census
  • Scheduling: 36 hours per week
  • Floating: Float in rotation with core staffing
  • Documentation system: Meditech

Equipment and Procedures

  • Equipment used: Impella, GE monitors, Temporary Pacemakers, EKOS, IABP, Artic Sun, Hemodynamic monitoring
  • Procedures performed: Central line insertions, dialysis catheter insertions

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIH Certification

Required License

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in ICU or critical care specialty

Skills and Attributes

  • Critical thinking

  • Advanced clinical skills relevant to ICU care

Work Environment

  • Team-oriented with a mix of experienced staff on day and night shifts
  • Flexible scheduling options

Dress Code

  • Scrubs of any color allowed
  • No denim, capris, or camouflage patterns

  • The unit has received recognition such as the Daisy Award
  • Staff have engaged in community support activities, e.g., making blankets for hospice patients

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kentucky
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
  • ICU experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
