Registered Nurse – Med Surg Telemetry (Night Shift, Travel/Contract)

• Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Total hours per week: 36
• No on-call duties
• Float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Patient ratio approximately 1:4-5
• Units include General Surgery, Trauma, Vascular, Wound, and Plastics

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in Med Surg / Telemetry
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Proficiency and prior experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS certification required; can be renewed at facility
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
• Unit-specific competency exams required
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit (check with recruiter)
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification) required only if assigned to specific units (not specified for this role)

Background & Screening Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including:

• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start using specific code (3701.881)

• Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership role

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
• TB questionnaire required annually in lieu of TB test
• Adult Tdap vaccination (not older than 10 years) required; exemptions not allowed if working with infants or pregnant patients
• 2 doses of MMR vaccine or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella; boosters required if low titer and no proof of vaccination
• Varicella immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation
• Hepatitis B immunity via titer or 3-vaccine series; declination accepted with signed form
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
• Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); mask required if declining
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination collected if available

Facility Policies & Compliance

• Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code and hand hygiene policy
• Annual acknowledgment of ethics and compliance policies (required for new contracts)
• Confidential Fraud, Waste, and Abuse reporting training and form required prior to start
• Fingerprint proof required for subcontractors (physical receipt or photo of fingerprint cards)
• Background acknowledgement form required for subcontractors prior to start
