Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Day shift, 3 shifts per weekend (3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Weekend work required
  • Floating between campuses may be required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Ohio
  • Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Care Practitioner experience within the last year
  • High School Diploma and College Diploma

Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable (required for certain units)
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification) may be required depending on unit assignment (verify per unit)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start using specific Ohio code (3701.881)
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
  • Education accreditation confirmation required for respiratory therapy program
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monthly monitoring required
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
  • TB questionnaire required annually in lieu of TB test renewal
  • Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12) required; exemptions not allowed if working with infants or pregnant patients
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if low titer and no proof of vaccines
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required unless medically exempted
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series or signed declination acceptable
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); mask required if declining
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting Mechanism form required
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required and must be updated annually
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually

Parking

  • Parking permits available for purchase (costs and options subject to change)

Notes

  • Candidates must complete unit-specific competency exams prior to start
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually for RNs (not applicable for RRTs unless otherwise specified)
  • Fingerprinting and background check processes are time-sensitive; candidates are urged to complete fingerprinting promptly
  • Breaks in service over 90 days require new fingerprinting if prior results are older than 1 year
