Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location

Shift Details
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week
- 12 hours per shift (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Total 36 hours per week
Patient Ratio
- 1 nurse to 4 patients
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in an urban, Level I Trauma Emergency Department
- Experience in a teaching hospital preferred
- First-time travel nurses accepted
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - required for ER clinical candidates; may be completed onsite twice per month
Preferred Certifications
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (if not already certified)
Licensure
- Valid RN license for Illinois
- Pending licenses are NOT accepted
Scheduling Requirements
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend
- Floating to other units required
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Locals accepted

- Epic
Prior Travel Experience
- Not required
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks including 7-year history, aliases, and multiple federal/state databases; must be current within 30 days
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification (ADN or BSN required)
- Primary source license verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year (3M 1860 S/R, 1870+, or 9205+ masks)
- Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start
- Immunizations and titers (must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing):
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series; declination allowed)
- Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series; declination allowed)
- Flu seasonal vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccine exemption forms (religious or medical) require facility approval if applicable
- Photo for badge (passport style, plain background, no headgear)
- Completion of facility orientation modules (~2 hours) prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required
- Employment application including last 7 years of work history; gaps over 30 days must be explained
- Skills checklist for assigned and float units, updated annually
- Employment verification for last 7 years
- Illinois Department of Public Health fingerprinting required if no Illinois state license (must be done in Illinois within 10 days of authorization)
Restrictions
- Return to work restrictions: maximum 7 days
- Fingerprinting cannot be done out of state for those required to complete it
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience, preferably within the last year
- Experience working with Level I Trauma patients
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
