Job Opportunity: Outpatient Clinic Registered Nurse

Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Work primarily in an outpatient breast surgery/oncology clinic focused on high-risk breast cancer patients or those genetically predisposed.
  • Primary worksite is the Edmonds Clinic with occasional floating to First Hill Clinic and rarely to Issaquah.
  • First week of training will be at First Hill Clinic.
  • Responsibilities include telephone triage, new patient calls, surgical teaching, drain care, and coordination of care.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • No weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Experience in outpatient/ambulatory clinic settings and oncology (inpatient or outpatient).
  • Experience with Epic electronic health records system.
  • First-time travel nurses accepted.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Washington (compact license accepted).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC) preferred.
  • Other certifications may be required based on clinical track (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) — verify as applicable.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card required.
  • Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
  • Education verification required for all candidates; international education requires additional documentation.
  • Washington State Patrol (WSP/WATCH) search required within 90 days of start.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 12 months of start; instant tests acceptable with attestation.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
  • Respirator safety clearance required for travel candidates, medically cleared annually.
  • Drug screen attestation required if instant drug screen is used.

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
  • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years required.
  • Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable to specialty and unit.
  • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other nearby clinics.
  • Passport-style badge photo required (not required for this specific facility).
  • Completion of required WorkRamp training modules and Epic system training as assigned.
  • Annual completion of system-level regulatory modules and specialty-specific modules as applicable.

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM).
  • No weekend, holiday, or on-call shifts.
  • Locals within 50 miles of the primary worksite are not eligible for this position.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 1 year of clinic experience, with clinic experience within the last year required.
  • Experience in outpatient and clinic settings.
  • Experience in inpatient settings.
  • Oncology nursing experience.
  • Experience using Epic electronic health records system.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Notes

  • Candidates currently employed at other facilities within the same health system with less than a 30-day gap may have some background and drug screening requirements waived or extended.
  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position.

This role is ideal for a Registered Nurse with outpatient oncology experience seeking a travel contract with a stable weekday schedule and no weekend or holiday shifts.
