Description

Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Ortho & Robotics)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse – Operating Room (Ortho & Robotics)
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day shift 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Call Requirements: 4-6 weeknights per month (8:30 PM – 6:30 AM, Monday-Friday) and 1 weekend call rotation per month (varied Saturday/Sunday shifts)
  • No float requirements
  • High-volume OR with patients of complex acuity
  • Strong ortho and robotics experience preferred
  • Large OR experience required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Orthopedics experience

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (AHA, ARC, or Military; RQI acceptable)
  • BLS (AHA preferred, ARC or Military also accepted; RQI acceptable)
  • Unit-specific competency exams required within 2 years of start
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam must be completed within 7 days of signing and valid within 2 years
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required unless exempt (e.g., Perioperative nurses)
  • Color Blind Testing: 100% pass required (2 attempts allowed)
  • Respirator Fit Test documentation within 1 year of start and renewed annually (must be completed prior to start; no onsite fit testing except Rehab Hospital)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 2 years prior to start, indicating clearance to work without restrictions
  • Negative TB test (2 PPDs, QGold, TSpot, or MTB) within 6 months of start
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by specified deadlines
  • Negative 9 or 10 panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (marijuana tested; medical marijuana not accepted)
  • Respirator medical clearance annually if respirator use is required

Background & Screening

  • 7-year background check completed within 1 year before start date, including:
    • Social Security trace
    • County searches for last 7 years
    • Nationwide criminal search
    • Sex offender search
    • OIG/SAM sanctions screening
  • State-specific registry checks as applicable (noted for home health/hospice roles)
  • Fingerprinting required onsite or at approved locations prior to or on first day of orientation
  • Employment application and skills checklist required

Additional Requirements

  • Driver’s license required if driving is part of job duties (not applicable for this OR RN role)
  • Completion and signing of facility-specific agreements prior to start (e.g., confidentiality, service commitment)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (not required for non-clinical APN roles)
