Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (flexible options available: 13 or 26 weeks)
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 10 hours each, 9:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 40


Job Description

  • Work with diagnostic X-Ray in Radiology/Cardiology specialty.
  • Experience with C-arm and portable X-Ray equipment is required; O-arm experience preferred.
  • Equipment used includes Philips, Siemens, and GE systems.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend required; may be scheduled every other weekend based on unit needs.
  • Scrub Color: Black scrubs required.
  • Charting system: EPIC.
  • Locals and first-time travelers are accepted.
  • Schedule requests, including time off, must be submitted and approved before offer.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiology Technician license in New Jersey.
  • Minimum 2 years of Radiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience as an X-Ray Technician.
  • ARRT (R) certification.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA, RQI, or instructor cards accepted; COCs accepted as placeholders).

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency with C-arm and portable X-Ray machines.
  • Familiarity with Philips, Siemens, and GE imaging equipment.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Criminal background check required within 30 days of start.
  • Must include all aliases and locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR/DMV) hits do not require facility review for this location.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and for contract renewals.
  • New Jersey Department of Treasury Exclusions List check required within 30 days of start and for extensions.

Health & Safety

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray required within 3 months of start (IGRA blood test or 2-step PPD).
  • Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease.
  • Drug screen (10-panel urine) required within 30 days of start.
  • Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
  • Fit test and Respiratory Medical Clearance required prior to start; on-site fit testing mandatory.
  • Latex allergy screening questionnaire required if job tasks involve glove or respirator use.
  • Color blindness exam required if job tasks require color discrimination.

Certifications & Training

  • Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgment required.
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication competency may be required depending on unit.
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months of start.
  • Skills checklist must be completed and updated annually.

References & Work History

  • Two references within the last 2 years required; at least one must be managerial.
  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history required.
  • Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates for at least 1 year prior to start, allowing gaps of 30 days or less.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must bring all required documentation to orientation.
  • Any schedule or time-off requests must be approved prior to offer.
  • Black scrubs are the required uniform.
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
