Description

Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract

Location: Titusville, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1:6 (PCU level patients)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital
Total Staffed Beds: 210


Job Description

  • Must have Charge RN experience to be considered.
  • Comfortable managing a 1:6 patient ratio with patients requiring Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level care.
  • Floating within scope of practice is required.
  • Orthopedic and total joint replacement nursing care experience is strongly preferred.
  • Must be available to work mandatory 5 shifts during clinical orientation week (36-40 hours).
  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
  • No block scheduling allowed.
  • Local candidates are not eligible (must live more than 30 miles from the facility).
  • Call-out policy: 3 call-outs result in termination.
  • Shift change notices:
    • Refusal to change with less than 48 hours’ notice may result in forfeiting guaranteed hours.
    • Refusal to change with 1 week or more notice may result in termination.
  • Must complete approximately 4 hours of modules prior to start date.
  • Holiday work requirements:
    • If 1-2 holidays fall within assignment: work 1 evening and 1 holiday shift.
    • If 3 holidays fall within assignment: work 1 evening and 2 holiday shifts.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Florida
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Background check within 6 months, including social security trace, education verification, and nationwide checks.
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting).
  • Education verification of nursing degree (ASN, BSN, or MSN).
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 3 months of start.
  • Up-to-date immunizations or documented immunity for:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination
    • COVID vaccination or approved exemption
  • Two professional references within two years.
  • Performance evaluation within the last year if applicable.
  • Skills checklist and competency exams as required.
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and quizzes prior to start.

Work Environment and Additional Details

  • Charting system: Meditech.
  • Scrub color: Any.
  • Parking: Free in any unrestricted space.
  • Fit testing for masks will be completed onsite during the first week.
  • Candidates must review and sign multiple facility-specific documents including confidentiality, orientation acknowledgements, and vaccination declination forms if applicable.
