Description
Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; total 36 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit during night shifts.
- Work schedule: 3 shifts per week, each 12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
- Must work at least every other holiday.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum of 1.5 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Required Assessments & Testing
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam during orientation; passing scores required.
- Baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) required for all bedside RNs except OR.
- PBDS Assessment waived.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required with official documentation:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive.
- Annual flu vaccination documentation required (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions must be approved).
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year.
Background & Compliance
- Background check required prior to start; must be updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 48 hours of contract signing, results valid for 12 months and updated annually. Facility fingerprinting also required.
- Education verification required for all candidates.
- Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint attestation required annually.
Documentation & Onboarding
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Employment application with 3 years prior work history including at least 2 years clinical acute care in a similar area.
- Two professional references from within 1 year of start date (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
- Photo for badge may be required.
- Resume/CV may be required depending on role.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and assessments prior to clearance to start.
- Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since last assignment at this or related facilities may have some requirements waived (e.g., competency exams, SafeMedicate prep).
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, seeking a night shift travel contract with a reputable healthcare facility.
