Description

Job Opportunity: IMC Registered Nurse

Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
  • Weekly hours: 36
  • Unit: Intermediate Care (IMC) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown
  • Patient ratio: 1:5 or 1:6
  • Weekend coverage: Every other weekend required; schedule directed by unit operational needs
  • Float requirement: Must float to Telemetry and/or Medical-Surgical units as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Care experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)

Experience & Other Requirements

  • First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
  • Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during employment
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position
  • I9/E-Verify attestation required for all candidates

Certifications & Training

  • Annual completion of facility-specific modules prior to start
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • Other certifications as required by unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) if applicable to unit assignment

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
    • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
  • N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)

Additional Notes

  • Locals within 60 miles may be eligible for different rates (not included here)
  • Unit may assign weekend coverage and float duties based on operational needs

This position offers a structured night shift schedule in a progressive care setting, requiring strong critical care skills and competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation. It is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of relevant experience, including those new to travel nursing.
