Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Euclid, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit.
- Must work at least every other holiday during the contract.
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam must be passed during orientation.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent Telemetry experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Experience with Epic electronic charting system.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency.
Orientation & Competency Requirements
- Pass baseline competency exams during orientation:
- Medication administration exam (SafeMedicate) with a 90% passing score.
- ECG interpretation exam with an 80% passing score.
- Orientation includes completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start.
- Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus system for submitting hours worked.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
- Fit mask (N95) test within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Seasonal flu vaccination (required annually; no declinations accepted)
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD, QuantiFERON Gold, or TSPOT within 12 months; chest x-ray and TB questionnaire if history of positive TB.
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.
Background & Compliance
- Background check required prior to start, including FCRA-compliant 7-year search and education verification.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start, updated annually. Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care in a similar specialty.
- Annual skills checklist required.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID during assignment.
- Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers.
- Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since their last contract at this facility may be exempt from some orientation testing and module requirements.
- Candidates must complete all onboarding modules on a computer using Google Chrome prior to clearance to start.
- Candidates must submit a photo for badge issuance (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
Summary
This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN with a minimum of 18 months recent permanent experience, current Ohio or compact RN license, and recent Epic charting experience. The role requires day shifts of 12 hours, 3 days per week, with comprehensive health, background, and competency requirements to ensure compliance and patient safety.
