Description
Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Details
- Work schedule includes weekend and holiday rotations
- No on-call duties
- Floating between campuses as needed is required
- Patient Care Unit (PCU) nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
- First-time travelers are welcome
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
- Cardiac Telemetry experience required
- Experience managing and interpreting dysrhythmias
- Experience with peripheral line care/management and PICC line management
- Ability to titrate drips
- Must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to strict punctuality and attendance policies
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for Cardiac Progressive Care and MS/Telemetry units)
- Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam (must pass with minimum 82%)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication)
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse license for North Carolina
- Primary source license verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge issuance)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher)
- Transcript/Diploma copy for highest nursing education
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold/TSPOT within 6 months)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required by October 20)
- Fit mask test completed within current calendar year (N95 approved types)
- Health History Form and TB Questionnaire completed prior to clearance
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of employment history for last 5 years
- Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual/uniform attire)
Testing & Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% to pass)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail, 82% minimum, max 2 attempts with remediation)
- EPIC test (online, 2 attempts allowed, 80% minimum to pass)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit
- Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Proficient in EKG interpretation
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience working in a PCU - Progressive Care Unit setting
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be aware of and agree to the zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Candidates must complete all compliance requirements by the deadline (12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date)
- Floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement forms must be reviewed and signed
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
