Description

Registered Nurse - Cardiac Observation Unit

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit, you will provide high-level care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization procedures. Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating assigned patients and planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care
  • Assisting physicians during examinations and procedures
  • Performing patient tests and administering medications within RN scope of practice
  • Preparing patients for cardiac catheterization and cardioversion procedures
  • Recovering patients post-procedure who have received conscious sedation
  • Sedating, circulating, and documenting bedside procedures such as Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and Cardioversions (CV)
  • Discharging patients with appropriate teaching and documentation

The unit cares for high-risk, high-acuity patients and performs bedside procedures including TEE and CV.


Shift Information

  • Varies: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (day shifts starting between 6:00 AM and 8:30 PM)
  • Call requirements include weekends (Saturday and Sunday) on a rotational basis approximately once every 4 to 6 weeks
  • Weekend call hours: Saturday 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, Sunday 7:00 AM–2:00 PM

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Arizona
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Electrophysiology Lab experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification
  • Experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Telemetry experience
  • Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience
