X-Ray Tech Travel/Contract Position - Madison, Wisconsin
Job Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM
- Schedule: Wednesday to Wednesday (8 days on, 6 days off), every other weekend rotation
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Hours per Week: 40 hours
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technician license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 1 year of Radiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience as an X-Ray Technician
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Required Compliance & Documentation
- Background Checks:
- Must be completed within 90 days prior to start date
- Includes SSN trace, county, nationwide, sex offender searches, and caregiver screening per Wisconsin state mandate
- Background review required for any pending or convicted criminal charges (traffic violations generally excluded)
- Education Verification: Required as applicable to specialty
- State License Verification: Primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
- Drug Testing: Required for all clinical candidates to meet standard; pharmacy department candidates have additional requirements
- Physical Exam: Must be collected within 1 year (not required by facility but required by agency standard)
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo required (no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
Required Certifications & Exams
- BLS: American Heart Association certification required
- ACLS, PALS, NRP: Check unit description for requirements; must be AHA-issued
- Telemetry Testing:
- Adult and Pediatric Telemetry exams required for applicable inpatient units
- Must be completed through the designated LMS platform prior to start and updated annually
- Candidates allowed 3 attempts with remediation required after 2nd failure
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Annual requirement
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for clinical specialties as specified
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Tuberculosis (TB): Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes; TB questionnaire required annually
- Vaccinations:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 doses or positive titers; medical/religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
- Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer; medical/religious exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B: Required for direct patient care or blood/body fluid exposure; vaccination series or declination form required
- Flu Vaccine: Required annually during flu season (09/22 – 04/13) or approved medical/religious exemption
- Meningococcal: Required for Microbiology department staff; vaccine or declination form required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Proof of one adult Tdap vaccination required
- Fit Mask Testing: Completed onsite
Additional Requirements
- References: Two clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard)
- Employment Application: Required for all candidates
- Skills Checklist: Annual requirement
- Wisconsin BID Form: State-mandated caregiver screening form required prior to start

- Additional shifts may be assigned based on departmental needs
- All certifications must be current and renewed according to facility timelines
- Strict adherence to testing deadlines and remediation processes for telemetry and medication exams is required
- Medical and religious exemption forms for vaccines must follow facility-specific approval processes
