Electrophysiology Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, either 3x12 hours or 4x10 hours (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
On Call/Weekend Requirement: None
Floating Requirement: None


Job Description

  • Work primarily in the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab performing cardiac electrophysiology studies and procedures including:
    • Head-Up-Tilt test
    • Cardioversion
    • Internal Loop Recorder placement
    • Atrial flutter/fibrillation ablations
    • Supraventricular and ventricular tachycardia ablations
    • Device implants (Watchman, Aveir, Pacemaker, Defibrillator)
    • Device explants and lead extractions
  • Average daily caseload: 18 cases
  • Use of Cerner and GE Cardiolab for charting
  • Medication management via Pyxis system
  • Scrubs provided

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Electrophysiology Technician, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record system
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • CCI certification (Cardiovascular Credentialing International)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CCI RCES or RCIS certification (Cardiovascular Credentialing International - Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)

Licensure

  • Must hold a valid license appropriate for the Electrophysiology Tech discipline as required by state regulations

Additional Requirements

  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least two years of experience within the last three years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including multi-state and federal searches
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if history of TB, additional documentation required
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (September through March)
  • N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
  • Medication and competency exams required within 3 years of start, including EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam with minimum passing scores and annual updates

  • Philips X-Ray machine
  • Siemens X-Ray machine
  • GE Micropacer

Equipment Experience Preferred

  • 3D mapping systems (Biosense, Abbott/ESI)
  • Siemens, GE, and Abbott ultrasound machines
  • Laser lead machine

Work Environment

  • Short Term Acute Care facility
  • Teaching hospital with a top 50 heart and vascular center ranking
  • 748 staffed beds

Notes

  • This unit accepts first-time travelers with required EP Lab experience
  • No on-call or weekend shifts required
  • No floating to other units required
