Description

Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

Location: Bowling Green, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Information

  • Unit: Orthopedics and Medical-Surgical
  • Beds: Ortho (30 beds), Med Surg (37 beds)
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 6:1
  • Staffing: Utilizes Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Skilled Nursing Externs (SNEs), and Unit Secretary (US) during day shifts
  • Documentation System: Meditech
  • Floating Policy: May float to inpatient units, including Critical Care Unit (CCU) and Emergency Department (ED) for patient care and tasks
  • Scheduling: Monthly schedules (4-week increments); full-time requires working 4 weekend shifts per month (e.g., 3 Saturdays and 1 Sunday)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Procedures: Some bedside procedures performed by physicians; less common than in CCU/ED
  • Dress Code: Scrub top and bottoms required; no fleece, hoodies, sweatshirts, sweaters, denim, or camouflage; long sleeve shirt or scrub jacket allowed under scrub top; no shoes with holes
