Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location
- Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type
- Travel contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Night shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call duties
- No floating to other locations
Patient Population
- Adult patients primarily
- Care includes critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
Job Summary
- Provide pulmonary care under physician direction with minimal supervision
- Perform patient assessments and implement respiratory care plans
- Conduct technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures hospital-wide
- May serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader
Key Responsibilities
- Emergency response (Code Blue and White)
- Airway management including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning
- Delivery of aerosolized medications
- Ventilator setup and management
- Oral hygiene and airway device maintenance
- Management of BiPAP, CPAP, and oxygen delivery devices
- Chest film analysis and blood gas collection/analysis
- EKG analysis and accurate documentation
- Equipment cleaning and stocking
- Participation in accreditation surveys (CAP and JC)
- Advanced skills may include:
- Therapeutic gas management (INO, HeO2)
- Pulmonary function testing
- Bronchoscopy assistance
- Hemodynamic monitoring and waveform analysis
- Nocturnal SpO2 evaluation and polysomnography
- Patient transport duties
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Louisiana
- Respiratory Care Practitioner with at least 1 year of experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
