Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a CVOR Tech with experience in cardiovascular and vascular surgery cases, trauma level II, and working with adults through geriatrics. The role involves supporting multi-specialty inpatient, outpatient, and emergent surgical procedures including trauma, organ harvesting, and various surgical specialties.
Work Schedule
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (6:15 AM – 4:45 PM)
- Call Requirement: 2 days per week and every third weekend
- Float Requirement: Yes, may float to Main OR and Vascular OR as needed
- Weekend Requirement: As needed
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1.5 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist
- CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
- Experience working with adult and geriatric patients
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a community hospital setting
- Experience with additional surgery case types: Endo/Laparoscopic, ENT, General, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Plastics, Urology
- Experience with organ donation
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record system
Orientation & Training
- Unit Orientation: 40 hours
- Scrubs: Provided
- Use of systems: EPIC, Pyxis, SBAR communication
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates
- Drug screening within 6 months of start (9-panel acceptable)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start (with exceptions for past positives)
- Required immunizations and titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Physical exam and references as per travel healthcare standards
- Completion of facility-specific education modules and compliance training
- Photo for badge (passport style, white background, business attire) required immediately after signing contract
- Confidentiality agreement and hospital policies acknowledgment required
Additional Notes
- Must complete medication safety training and other facility-specific mandatory education
- May be required to complete trauma nursing core course (TNCC) and other certifications as applicable
- Floating to other OR units as needed requires flexibility
- Prior travel experience is mandatory for this role
