Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry

Location

  • Maryville, Tennessee

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
  • Weekend coverage every other weekend
  • Staffing ratio at night: 1 nurse to 6 patients

Unit and Patient Population

  • Float required: may be assigned to other units based on need and skill set
  • Inpatient unit focused on stroke and TIA patients, also higher acuity med-surg patients
  • Patient age group: Adults and Geriatrics
  • Common patient diagnoses: Stroke/TIA, Seizure, Syncope, Pneumonia, Chest Pain, Dialysis, Acute Kidney Failure, Post Heart Catheterization, Respiratory Failure, Encephalopathy, Congestive Heart Failure, Sepsis
  • Special procedures: Peritoneal dialysis, continuous bladder irrigation
  • Medication system used: Omnicell

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Tennessee
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Telemetry experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
  • Certifications required:
    • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of online modules (approx. 12 hours) within 72 hours of assignment
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite
  • Pass/fail testing (medication and EKG/arrhythmia) required prior to start
  • Floating policy acknowledgment may be required (not for all locations)

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Drug screening within 1 year, 5-panel minimum
  • Immunizations and/or titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working in high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (second vaccine can be pending if collected within 28 days)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
    • Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (second vaccine can be pending if collected within 28 days)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required annually (not required for remote workers)
  • Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation (N95 masks commonly used)
  • Annual background checks and verifications including:
    • 7-year background check within 12 months of start
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks every 30 days during assignment
    • Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start
  • Photo for badge required (passport-style, light background, no obstructions)

  • Must be able to work night shifts with weekend rotation
  • High focus on patient experience and care quality
  • Candidates must be prepared for floating to other units as needed
  • Compliance with all required documentation and training is mandatory for clearance and continued employment
