Description

Job Opportunity: Infusion Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lacey, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Outpatient Infusion/Oncology RN role primarily focused on infusion therapy for oncology and hematology patients.
  • Patient population includes oncology patients receiving chemotherapy/immunotherapy, hematology patients, and non-oncology infusions (rheumatology, GI, neurology, pulmonology).
  • Approximately 85% hematology/oncology and 15% non-oncology infusions.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per day (typically 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM). Shifts may vary and may extend until the last patient is seen. No holidays or weekend shifts required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum of 1 year of infusion experience, with infusion experience within the last year required.
  • Chemotherapy certification from ONS or ONCC.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
  • Experience in outpatient settings.
  • Oncology experience.
  • Therapeutic phlebotomy experience.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Social Security Card (as applicable for I9 verification).
  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
  • Education verification for nursing degree; international education requires diploma/transcript.
  • NURSYS license verification required.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted).
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination.
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months; instant tests acceptable with attestation.
  • Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use, medically cleared annually (for travel candidates).
  • References: Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned LMS platform.
  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required.
  • WA State Patrol background search required within 90 days of start for Washington placements.
  • Multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington with out-of-state compact licenses must complete demographic attestation prior to start.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Ability to perform therapeutic phlebotomy and subcutaneous injections.
  • Flexibility to float to other nearby facilities if needed.

Work Environment

  • Outpatient infusion center setting.
  • No weekend or holiday shifts.
  • Day shift with typical start times between 7:15 AM and 7:45 AM.
