Description

Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift

Location: Fort Defiance, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a 24-bed Emergency Department consisting of:
    • 11-bed Main ED
    • 6-bed ED Fast Track
    • 7-bed ED Observation Unit
  • Nurses rotate regularly through all ED areas, including Triage, Quick Registration, Covid Tent, and Entry Screening.
  • Assignments may change daily or during shifts based on patient volume and unit needs.
  • May assist with Covid testing and immunization clinics as needed.
  • Schedule typically follows a 7 days on / 7 days off pattern, alternating between 36 and 48 hours per week.
  • Night shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  • Shifts may occasionally change to day shift to accommodate staffing needs.
  • Occasional floating to other qualified departments may be required, including patient care or task-oriented duties (e.g., answering call lights, phones).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Arizona
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current American Heart Association certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Additional Information

  • Orientation is held on Mondays only; missing compliance deadlines will delay orientation to the following Monday.
  • No Return to Office (RTO) requests are accepted.
  • Flexibility to work holidays and weekends is required.
  • Housing information is available but not provided here.
  • Prior travel experience is required (returning traveler preferred).
  • Travelers must be adaptable to floating and shift changes as needed.

Shift Details

  • 12-hour night shifts (7 PM – 7 AM), 7 on / 7 off schedule.
  • Flexibility to cover other shifts, holidays, and weekends as needed.
