Description
Registered Nurse - Post Partum/Mom Baby (Travel)
Location: Smyrna, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Overview
- Unit: Women’s Services
- Beds: 9 Labor & Delivery, 3 swing rooms, 2 ORs, 3 bed OBED
- Patient Ratios: 1-2 patients per nurse
- Staffing: Unit secretary and scrub tech available; dedicated CRNA and midwife in-house 24/7; OBGYN on call
- Documentation Systems: CPN and Meditech
- Scheduling: Requires 4 weekend shifts per month
- Floating Policy: May float to mother/baby unit or other departments for tasks
- Patient Experience Goal: Maintain above 75% satisfaction
- Awards: HCA Unit of Distinction 2021; Pilot hospital for NTSV and Team Birth initiatives
Job Responsibilities & Procedures
- Provide high-quality care to laboring patients
- Support patient choice and promote vaginal birth opportunities based on patient preference
- Perform circulating in OR, intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC), fetal scalp electrode (FSE), magnesium sulfate administration, postpartum hemorrhage management (JADA system), and nitrous oxide administration
- Participate in couplet care in postpartum unit to keep newborns bedside and promote breastfeeding, including donor milk availability
- Collaborate with 8-bed Level 2 NICU with Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) coverage 24/7 for high-risk deliveries
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Post Partum nursing experience
- Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
