Description
Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week (7:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
- Hours per week: 40 hours
- Work schedule: 5x8 hour shifts
- Start date: July 27
- Call requirement: 3 weeknights and 2 weekends within 6 weeks
- Float required
- Must be available to work two out of three holidays, including days surrounding each holiday
- Facility uses Cerner electronic health record system
- Experience preferred in a similar-sized facility (14-room OR)
- Special equipment used: DaVinci Xi and Ion Robot
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in Operating Room, including experience within the last year
- General surgery and gynecology (GYN/OB-GYN) experience required
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
Certifications & Licenses
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- General surgery experience
- Gynecology (GYN) and OB/GYN experience
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- I9/E-Verify attestation required prior to start
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (does not include marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if history of TB, additional documentation required
- Immunization documentation required for:
- Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept–March)
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite)
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
- Skills checklist and competency exams required prior to start and updated annually, including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (for applicable units)

- Scrubs color: Blue
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced OR environment with advanced robotic surgical equipment
- Candidate must be prepared for call and float responsibilities as part of the assignment
This position is ideal for an experienced OR RN with strong general and gynecological surgical skills, comfortable with Cerner, and able to work a consistent day shift schedule with holiday and call coverage.
