Job Opportunity: Interventional Platform Nurse (Cardiology)

Position Details

• Employment Type: Contractor

Patient Population & Setting

• Adults only (inpatient and outpatient)
• Intra-procedural care only (no pre/post procedure responsibilities)
• Procedures include:

  • Cath Lab: Diagnostic and interventional heart caths, right heart cath, Impella, balloon pump, thrombectomies, high-risk procedures, STEMI/MI, some CTOs, PFO closure
  • Electrophysiology (EP): Pacemakers (temporary and permanent), ablations, MitraClip
  • Hybrid Room: AAA repair, Watchman, TAVR, carotids
  • Interventional Radiology (IR): Peripheral diagnostics/interventions, thrombolysis, chest tubes, kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, paracentesis/thoracentesis, CT/RFA ablations, G-tube placement/exchanges, PICC and tunneled catheter placements, nephrostomy tubes, dialysis grafts, drain placements

Patient Ratios

• 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• IEMA and ARRT certifications
• Circulating experience
• Procedural scrub experience
• Diagnostic Imaging experience
• Interventional Radiology experience

Orientation & Training

• 12 hours of facility and unit orientation

Scheduling & Call

• Weekend rotation: call only (2 weekends per month)
• On-call shifts: 10-11 per month, including weekends
• Call hours: Weekdays 4 PM–7 AM; weekends 4 PM Friday–7 AM Monday
• 30-minute response time required
• Call team consists of 3 members: 1 nurse, 1 tech, and 1 nurse or tech
• No sleep rooms available during call
• Holiday coverage: Closed on holidays except call team; 1-2 holiday call shifts per contract
• Time off requests require manager approval

• Charge nurse available, may occasionally take patient assignments or cover breaks
• 24/7 Respiratory Therapist support
• 24/7 Hospitalist coverage
• Cardiologist available during the day and on call at night
• Rapid Response Team/code team responds to codes in the lab
• Transportation available for IR patients (not for Cath Lab)
• Free parking provided
• Procedural scrub color provided

Technology & Equipment

• Charting systems: EPIC, Merge Hemodynamics, GE Cardio (EP)
• Equipment includes Siemens devices
