Description
Job Opportunity: Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Work setting: Family Care Clinic (ambulatory care)
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days a week, 10 hours per day (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
- No on-call or weekend requirements
- Float requirement: Must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
- Clinic experience preferred
- Exposure: May come into contact with COVID-19 patients
- EMR system: Any EMR required; Cerner preferred
- Clinic size: 22 rooms
- Parking: On-campus parking available (no shuttle service)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia
- Minimum 2 years of ambulatory care nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in an outpatient setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Other certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) as required by unit description (not specifically required for this role)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years, passing score 80%+
- Color blindness testing required (online or in-person acceptable)
- Competency exams relevant to specialty/unit as applicable
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- E-Verify and I9 attestation required prior to start
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Education verification of highest degree required by position
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), including multiple substances
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Annual TB screening (negative PPD, Quantiferon, or T-spot within 1 year) and TB questionnaire annually
- Immunization documentation required for:
- Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 VZV vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept–March)
Experience & References
- Minimum 2 years of ambulatory care nursing experience within the last 3 years
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the past 3 years
- For travel contracts, prior travel experience is not required
Additional Information
- Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function
- Facility-specific training modules must be completed prior to start
- Annual safety manual acknowledgment required
- Photo for badge with specific requirements (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
