Description
Job Opportunity: RN - PCU
Location: El Paso, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Night Shift)
Hours per Week: 36
Call Requirements: None
Weekends: Yes, 2 per pay period
Unit Overview
- Unit Type: Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (Telemetry)
- Number of Beds: 24
- Staffing (Night Shift): 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2 Patient Care Technicians
- Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 5 patients
- Equipment: GE remote telemetry
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech
- Permanent Positions Available: Yes
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Nurse (RN) License (Texas)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Certification
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in a specialty relevant to this role (Telemetry/Cardiac PCU)
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Leadership experience (Charge Nurse role)
- Critical care experience
- Monitor technician experience
- Competency in interpreting cardiac rhythms
Typical Procedures on Unit
- Care for post-cardiac cath lab patients (left/right heart caths, pacemakers, Watchman device, ablations)
- Stroke patient care
- COVID-19 patient care

- Comfortable working under a hands-on director
Dress Code
- Scrub Colors: Galaxy blue (Nurses), Hunter green (PCTs)
- Not acceptable: Hooded sweaters/jackets, full pull-over sweaters, fanny packs, Crocs shoes
Unit Policies
- Mandatory shift huddle at nurse’s station at shift start (06:45 or 18:45) — punctual attendance required
- Bedside shift report with patient communication board updates expected
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
This position does not require prior travel experience.
