Description
Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel Assignment
Location: El Paso, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Night Shift)
Hours per Week: 36
Call Requirements: None
Weekends: 2 per pay period
Unit Overview
- Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (Telemetry)
- Number of Beds: 24
- Staffing: 41 total staff
- Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
- Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 5 patients
- Equipment: GE remote telemetry
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech
- Permanent Positions Available: Yes
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Nurse (RN) License
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Certification
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in a specialty relevant to Progressive Care/Telemetry
- Competency in interpreting cardiac rhythms is mandatory
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership experience (Charge Nurse)
- Critical care experience
- Monitor technician experience
Typical Patient Population & Procedures
- Cardiac cath lab post PACU patients (including left/right heart caths, pacemakers, Watchman devices, ablations)
- Stroke patients
- COVID-19 patients
Work Environment & Culture
- Team-oriented with a strong sense of urgency
- Adaptable to change and open to constructive criticism
- Comfortable working under a hands-on director
Dress Code
- Scrub Colors: Galaxy blue for nurses, Hunter green for PCTs
- Not acceptable: hooded sweaters/jackets, full pull-over sweaters, fanny packs, Crocs shoes
Unit Policies
- Mandatory huddle at nurse’s station at shift start (06:45 or 18:45) with full attendance expected
- Bedside shift report required
- Updating patient communication boards during bedside shift report is expected
Additional Notes
- This is a travel nurse position with no call responsibilities.
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
