Description

Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel Assignment

Location: El Paso, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Night Shift)
Hours per Week: 36
Call Requirements: None
Weekends: 2 per pay period

Unit Overview

Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (Telemetry)
Number of Beds: 24
Staffing: 41 total staff
- Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 5 patients
Equipment: GE remote telemetry
Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech
Permanent Positions Available: Yes

Required Certifications & Licenses

Registered Nurse (RN) License
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIH Certification

Experience Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in a specialty relevant to Progressive Care/Telemetry
Competency in interpreting cardiac rhythms is mandatory

Preferred Qualifications

Leadership experience (Charge Nurse)
Critical care experience
Monitor technician experience

Typical Patient Population & Procedures

Cardiac cath lab post PACU patients (including left/right heart caths, pacemakers, Watchman devices, ablations)
Stroke patients
COVID-19 patients

Work Environment & Culture

Team-oriented with a strong sense of urgency
Adaptable to change and open to constructive criticism
Comfortable working under a hands-on director

Dress Code

Scrub Colors: Galaxy blue for nurses, Hunter green for PCTs
Not acceptable: hooded sweaters/jackets, full pull-over sweaters, fanny packs, Crocs shoes

Unit Policies

Mandatory huddle at nurse’s station at shift start (06:45 or 18:45) with full attendance expected
Bedside shift report required
Updating patient communication boards during bedside shift report is expected

Additional Notes

This is a travel nurse position with no call responsibilities.
Prior travel experience is not specified as required.

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
