Job Opportunity: EEG Tech
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evening (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM), 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (40 hours/week)
Job Specialty
- Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Experience with EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) required
- EPIC system experience required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an EEG Technician
- EEG Technician experience within the last year
- Experience with EPIC system

Background and Screening Requirements
- Criminal background check within 60 days of start, including:
- All states lived/worked in past 7 years
- State of permanent residence
- Statewide and county-level searches
- Nationwide FACIS Level 3
- Sex offender registry
- Education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Fingerprinting required for certain units (not typically for EEG Tech)
- Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check fingerprint results required for some units; proof of submission must be on file if results are pending
- Virginia Central Registry (CPS) search required for certain units; candidates must complete submission within 48 hours of contract signing and may start with results pending if proof of submission is provided
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination required
- Negative TB test (Q-gold/T-spot within 30 days of start or two PPDs including one within 30 days) or chest X-ray if positive PPD
- Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
- Titers required for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella; booster required if low titer
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Drug screening within 60 days of start (9-panel minimum, marijuana not required)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required for the flu season (10/1–5/31)
Orientation and Training
- Pharmacology exam, point of care testing, and airborne precaution mask fitting during orientation (not pass/fail)
- Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) for RNs and LPNs in certain units (not applicable for EEG Tech)
- Completion of assigned learning modules (~6 hours) during orientation week
- HIPAA confidentiality agreement required prior to start
Documentation and Application
- Complete application/resume required
- Two professional references required
- Skills checklist must be updated annually
- Nursys verification required for RNs (not applicable for EEG Tech)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must bring a mask (cloth acceptable), non-wireless headphones, and a laptop or cell phone to orientation (notify if unable to bring)
- Certifications expiring within 1 month of contract start are not accepted; no onsite renewals offered
- Candidates may start with pending background or CPS results if proof of submission is on file
