Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Outpatient
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM – 5:15 PM
- Friday: 8:30 AM – 3:45 PM
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Job Description
- Must be available for a full week of orientation.
- Average daily patient load: 8-10 patients.
- Patient population includes post-surgical, total joints, orthopedics, neuro, amputee, general medical, cardiac, and pulmonary disease cases.
- No call, weekend, or float requirements.
- Recent acute care experience required.
- Well-trained in orthopedic and neurological cases.
- Accepts first-time travelers.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Michigan.
- Minimum of 1 year of Physical Therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- E-Verify completion as required by contract.
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search from age 18.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Education verification with copy of highest degree or diploma.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Drug testing: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start.
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of at least one prior Tdap vaccine).
- Negative TB test (PPD or Q Gold/Tspot) within 30 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required.
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no exemptions).
- Hepatitis B: titer, series, or facility declination required.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no exemptions).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/spiritual exemption required for candidates starting after November 1; proof or exemption must be submitted by December 1.
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required.
- Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy must be reviewed and acknowledged prior to start.
- References: One professional reference from a supervisor or manager who directly supervised the candidate.
- Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps.
Additional Notes
- Fit testing required for certain acute care roles; outpatient PTs/PTAs are generally not required to have a fit test at this location.
- Fingerprinting via Michigan LARA required within 45 days of start for certain positions; not typically required for outpatient PT.
- No call, weekend, or float requirements.
- Prior travel experience is not required.
- Candidates must comply with all state-specific clearance and registry requirements as applicable.
This position offers a structured day shift schedule with a focus on orthopedic and neurological outpatient therapy in a post-surgical and acute care environment. It is suitable for Physical Therapists with at least one year of experience and recent acute care exposure, including first-time travel therapists.
