Description

Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Schedule: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
  • No call required
  • Float to other units as needed
  • Charge RN shifts required as needed
  • Unit: 29-bed medical-surgical unit with telemetry monitoring
  • Patient Population: Adults through geriatrics, orthopedic patients, medical-surgical patients
  • High volume: Total joint replacements, fracture repairs, kyphoplasties
  • Moderate volume: Other surgical procedures, inpatient and 24-hour observation medical patients
  • Additional: Unit includes a physical therapy gym for patient rehab without leaving the unit

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing, with at least some experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in Charge Nurse roles
  • Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment

Required Health and Immunization Documents

  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Proof of adult Tdap vaccine
  • Negative TB test (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months or chest X-ray if history positive
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination with booster documentation if applicable
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Fit mask test completed within current calendar year (N95 approved types)

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security card for badge issuance
  • Facility-specific photo meeting strict guidelines (no selfies, solid color background, business casual/uniform attire)
  • Completion of health history form including any physician-mandated work restrictions
  • Completion and signing of floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgment forms
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Workday login and onboarding tasks must be completed prior to start
  • EPIC test required (pass with 80% or higher; 2 attempts allowed)
  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal

Important Notes

  • The client enforces a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Candidate must be flexible with scheduling
  • Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
  • Candidates must be aware they are being submitted for this position and have reviewed the job description
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG exam allows 2 attempts; failure may result in contract cancellation
  • Charge RN experience is mandatory for this role
