Description

MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Two 16-hour shifts per weekend (Saturday and Sunday), 6:30 AM – 11:00 PM
  • Float Requirement: Yes, may float to other nearby medical centers as needed
  • Call Requirement: No
  • Scheduling Type: Blocked
  • Unit Orientation: 12 hours (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM), hospital orientation during week one with mandatory daily classes
  • Scrubs: Royal blue
  • Special Equipment: GE and Siemens MRI machines
  • Unit Systems: EPIC for medication, documentation, and communication
  • Disaster Response: Contract staff may be assigned to Storm or Hurricane Teams and required to report during catastrophic events

Required Qualifications

  • Valid MRI Technologist license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of MRI Technologist experience within the last year
  • Experience in an outpatient setting
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ARRT MR (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Magnetic Resonance) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric Outpatient MRI experience
  • Abdominal Magnetic Resonance Angiogram (MRA) and Venography (MRV)
  • MR Angio Lower Extremity with Bilateral Runoff

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks: Must be completed within 90 days of start, including local, federal, national criminal databases, sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree earned
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
    • Fit mask testing (N95 or PAPR training) within 1 year of start
    • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 5 years and physician-signed TB questionnaire within 30 days of start
    • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (facility-specific declination form required if titer negative/equivocal)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (9/1–10/31)
  • References: Two professional references within three years required for travel and acute care allied positions
  • Employment Application: Must be uploaded to facility system

Orientation and Onboarding

  • Must be fully available for orientation with no other commitments; missing any portion may delay or cancel start
  • Final start date confirmed the Tuesday prior to start week
  • Photo for badge required immediately after signing contract (passport style, white background, business attire)
  • Confidentiality agreement, education roster, tobacco-free campus acknowledgement, hospital policies, and other facility-specific documents must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • Completion of annual compliance training and medication safety modules required
  • Corp ID and I-Learn account setup mandatory before start; proof of login required

Additional Notes

  • Contract staff may be reassigned mid-contract to centralized office or other units as needed
  • Candidates must comply with all facility policies and training requirements, including disaster response readiness
  • Floating to other units and facilities is expected as part of the role

This position is ideal for MRI Technologists with at least 1 year of experience seeking a travel contract role with weekend extended shifts, advanced MRI skills, and flexibility to float between facilities.
