Description
Pediatric CVOR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Specialty: Pediatric Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Registered Nurse
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
- Weekly Hours: 40 hours guaranteed (options for 8- or 10-hour shifts, or 3-4 twelve-hour shifts with varying total hours)
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
- Primary focus on CVOR cases; may assist in main OR if no CVOR cases are available or completed early
- CVOR call responsibilities required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric CVOR nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Proficient with basic instruments, laparoscopic instruments, sternal saws, and midas drills
Licensing & Certification Requirements
- Indiana RN license required before start
- Certifications (AHA or equivalent RQI accepted):
- BLS (required)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- Additional unit-specific certifications may be required
Compliance & Documentation
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy required)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year residential/work history
- SSN trace, county, statewide, national sex offender, FACIS Level III
- Education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education: Official transcript or diploma required (may be pending at start)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tuberculosis test (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-SPOT within 1 year)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
- Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (no instant tests)
- Color blindness exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam and unit competency exam required
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment (supervisor or higher)
- Current employment application with explanation of any gaps over 30 days, covering 7 years
Additional Information
- Travelers must be aware of a policy effective 11/30/2024 restricting Indiana RNs from working at the facility, with exceptions for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)
