Description

Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse

Location: Edmonds, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule:
    • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (8:00 AM – 8:30 PM)
    • Bi-weekly pattern:
      • Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
      • Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
  • Call Requirements:
    • 7-8 call shifts per month
    • Weeknight call from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM
    • Weekend call is 24 hours

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Experience & Travel Requirements

  • First-time travel nurses are accepted
  • No prior travel experience required
  • Must have a minimum 3-month separation from any previous employment with the same health system to qualify for this travel position

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (as applicable)
  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report
  • WA State Patrol Search (WATCH) within 90 days of start, updated every 2 years for certain facility types
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 12 months of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
    • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates
  • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required
  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS
  • Float policy acknowledgment: may be required to float to other nearby facilities

Important Notes

  • Candidates with international nursing education must provide appropriate credential verification
  • Background checks with open/active felony cases or multiple DUI charges will result in disqualification
  • Candidates currently working at another facility within the same health system with less than a 30-day gap may not need new background or drug screens unless expiring on assignment
  • Fit mask testing required onsite or valid record within 1 year; updated annually
  • WA nurses with out-of-state compact licenses must complete demographic attestations prior to start

This position offers a structured schedule with a mix of day shifts and on-call responsibilities, suitable for RNs with at least one year of experience in the specialty. Compliance with comprehensive background, health, and certification requirements is mandatory.
