Electrophysiology Tech Travel/Contract Job – Washington, DC


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Electrophysiology)
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, either 3x12 hours or 4x10 hours (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: ASAP (from May 26th)
  • On Call/Weekend Requirement: None
  • Floating Requirement: None
  • Average Daily Caseload: 18 cases

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Electrophysiology Technician, with experience within the last year
  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • CCI certification

Special Procedures & Unit Details

  • Cardiac Electrophysiology study
  • Head-Up-Tilt test
  • Cardioversion
  • Internal Loop Recorder procedures
  • Atrial flutter/fibrillation ablations
  • Supraventricular and ventricular tachycardia ablations
  • Device implants (Watchman, Aveir, Pacemaker, Defibrillator)
  • Device explants and lead extractions

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Certifications Required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • CCI RCES or RCIS certification
  • Certifications Preferred:
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
    • Fluoroscopy permit
  • License: Must hold a valid license appropriate for Electrophysiology Tech discipline prior to start

  • Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital
  • One of the top 50 heart and vascular centers nationally
  • Total staffed beds: 748
  • Charting systems: Cerner, GE Cardiolab
  • Medication dispensing: Pyxis system
  • Scrubs provided
  • Flu vaccine required for all employees

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; updated every 3 years or after a 6-month gap
  • E-Verify and I9 attestation required prior to start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification of highest degree required by position
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), including multiple substances
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite)
  • Immunization and health documentation required:
    • Flu vaccine or approved exemption (strict guidelines)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
    • Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccines or positive titer

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years, minimum 80% score
  • Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually with minimum scores (for RN roles in related units; may be relevant for EP Tech familiarity)
  • Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually

References & Work History

  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least two years of experience within the last three years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
  • For travel contracts, at least one prior travel assignment or one month of per diem experience required

Additional Notes

  • Valid driver’s license required if driving on behalf of the employer is an essential job function
  • Facility-specific training modules must be completed prior to start
  • Photo for badge required (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
  • Scrubs are provided on site

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-volume, advanced cardiac electrophysiology lab with exposure to a wide range of specialized procedures and equipment in a top-tier acute care teaching hospital setting.
