Description

Registered Nurse (PCU/IMC/Stepdown) - Travel/Contract

Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Intermediate Care (IMC) / Stepdown
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (06:45 - 19:15)
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required; scheduling based on unit needs
  • Float Requirement: Must float to Telemetry and/or Medical-Surgical units as needed
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5 or 1:6 depending on unit
  • Patient Care: Bedside monitoring for up to 8 patients, cardiac monitoring, ultrasound IV, use of lift equipment
  • Scrubs: Not provided; Caribbean blue scrubs recommended

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Maryland
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Successful completion of EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid RN license for Maryland required prior to start
  • Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state and federal searches
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
    • Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccine or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
  • Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency
  • Annual safety manual acknowledgement

Additional Information

  • Drivers license required if driving on behalf of the employer is an essential job function
  • Must be able to float to other units as needed
  • Must be available for weekend shifts as scheduled by the unit
  • Scrubs are not provided; bring Caribbean blue scrubs

This position offers a structured orientation and supports first-time travel nurses. The role requires strong cardiac monitoring skills and the ability to manage multiple patients in a progressive care setting.
