Description

Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Livingston, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, each 12.5 hours (7:00 AM – 8:00 PM)
  • Hours per week: 36 hours
  • Floating: Yes, to Cath Lab Holding area
  • On-call: No on-call requirements
  • Block Scheduling: Not available
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience required
  • Must be able to circulate in complex cases and multiple specialties
  • Additional skillset: must be able to either scrub or monitor during procedures

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA required; RQI and instructor cards acceptable
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA required; RQI and instructor cards acceptable
  • Certifications must be current or have renewal confirmation if expiring within a month of start
  • Scrub color provided by facility
  • Charting system used: EPIC

Licensure

  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Jersey
  • Government-issued photo ID and driver's license required within 48 hours of signing contract
  • License name must match legal name on documentation or have proof of name change on file

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not required

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check required within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
  • Drug screen (10-panel urine) required within 30 days of start
  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history required
  • Work history verification required for at least 1 year prior to start (New Jersey state mandate)
  • Two professional references required within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
  • E-Verify clearance required

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
  • Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • Fit test and respiratory medical clearance required prior to start; on-site fit testing mandatory
  • Color blindness exam required if job tasks involve color discrimination
  • Latex allergy screening questionnaire required if applicable
  • Drug testing panel includes: Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, MDMA, Methamphetamine, Methadone, Opiates, Oxycodone, PCP
  • Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgement required

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 72 hours of signing contract
  • IV Therapy/Infusion exam required for all RNs (except OR specialties)
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication exams with remediation process; failure after 3 attempts results in cancellation
  • Color blind testing required within 1 year of start

Additional Notes

  • Must complete facility floating policy acknowledgment for every new assignment
  • Must comply with facility-specific orientation and annual education requirements
  • Must provide proof of all required certifications and clearances before start
  • Facility does not allow candidates from certain flagged educational institutions (Operation Nightingale Investigation)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, with experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
